ANFO, ANFO 800, ANFO 600, ANFO WR
ANFO products are based on a mix of ammonium nitrate (AN) prills and fuel oil (FO). In some cases, other additives are mixed with the base formulation in order to improve the product’s water resistance and/or its adherence to up-holes.
The ANFOs are bulk explosives usually used as main charge in both open-cut and underground blasting. Forcit Explosives offers four different types of ANFOs, which are suitable for the majority of the conditions and applications found in mining, quarrying and construction operations.
- ANFO is intended to be loaded into dry boreholes. This product is not water-resistant, which makes it unsuitable for wet boreholes.
- ANFO 800 is less dense than the conventional ANFO. This property translates into a lower linear concentration, which is highly desirable in blasting applications that seek to minimize damage and/or reduce material movement.
- ANFO WR (AHTI-ANFO) is relatively moisture-resistant and therefore is intended to be loaded into wet holes, after pumping the water out
- ANFO UP-HOLE (PITO-ANFO) has a special consistency that allows successful charging of up-holes.
